The 15th Australasian Bat Society Conference will be held on Wednesday 11th to Friday 13th April 2012 at the University of Melbourne, Parkville, Victoria, with a welcoming function on the evening of Tuesday 10th April and a post-conference field trip on Saturday 14th – Sunday 15th April.
The ABS conference is held every two years and celebrates bats (both microbats and megabats), and their role in the ecosystem. This conference will have an urban theme, but we welcome papers on all aspects of bat biology, ecology, health, conservation and management, and advances in bat survey technology. Everyone is invited, including students, bat carers, scientists, land managers, and anyone with an interest in bats and thinks bats are amazing creatures!
The Australasian Bat Society, Inc. Annual General Meeting will be held during the conference.
Download the forms below for more information about the conference.
A special public forum Managing our Nocturnal Neighbours will also be held on April 11th. The open forum will be held on the afternoon of the first day of the three-day ABS conference (11th April, 1 – 5:30 pm). Anyone can attend either or both events – but the forum will be more applied and targeted towards providing more general and practical information, while the conference will include more detailed scientific presentations.
The registration fee for the 3-day conference includes admission to the open forum, while the fee to just attend the open forum is $50 incl GST.
